ThinkBeyond - Mobile Expressionism

There are all kinds of posts across the internet about the details revealed at the February 9th ThinkBeyond by HP.  But not much on the event itself.  So I thought I'd share.

What to start with?  How about the art!  As soon as you walk in, you get handed a pamphlet with small blurbs about the various art pieces that were on display.  Each display had some rolled up copies for attendees to take.

Angry Birds

Angry Birds is one of the most popular mobile game ever made.  The company responsible for this feat is the independent Finnish studio Rovio mobile, who brought Angry Birds to the HP webOS platform in August 2010.  It took Rovio just 48 hours to port the app to webOS.  Their engaging concept, brought to life with design and style, has made this game a webOS user favorite.

Episode 5 - Think Beyond - T Minus 1

Just one more day!  How exciting!  There have been all kinds of events this week and last.  Google, Dell, Nokia?... I forget them all off the top of my head... you know why, cause ThinkBeyond is the one I'm excited about!

And not just because I'm going, but because this is it.  We get to see the results of the Palm buyout by HP.  We get to see the beginnings of what Palm can do backed by a much bigger wallet.


WebOS won the OS Bowl, now let's see it on some new hardware!

Think Beyond Shirts

Here is the shirt proof that I approved of on Monday.  The shirt image had to take up less real estate than the webcomic concept shirt.  It turns out real people exist in 3D space, and the image would wrap around an actual body.  Gotta put my trust in the folks who actually make shirts for a living.  I pick'em up tomorrow right before going to the event.

As for all the winners, just so you know who to look for, here's a relatively recent pic of me.  (At least from June of 2010).  Man I need to lose weight.  And I guess that begins now.  If I'm going to be putting pics up of myself, I want to look better than that.

And by the way, I usually go by Gerry.  Although I won't be offended if I'm referred to as Smart Jones, or smartjonescomic, or anominal (See previous post... or notice that I know have a personal twitter account that's up on the right hand bar.)

About Us? Me? - Site Updates

About me?  About this site?  I figured it was a good time to try my hand at an About Us page.  Especially because I'll be meeting a couple people tomorrow at Palm's ThinkBeyond event (The evening developer invite one, not the morning media event.) 

*cough* If Palm wanted to consider me as media next time, I more than wouldn't mind, I'd be ecstatic! *cough*

Excuse me... I feel one more coming.

Except there's only the me.  And About Us pages can be dry.  Considering this is a webcomic, I wanted to make it a bit more interesting.

So instead of an About Us page, I created a Site Story page.  It's a story how a boy, his love of gadgets, Palm, Apple, Google, Precentral, and TiPb.com led to the creation of this site.




In other news...


Despite being a one man site, it seems appropriate to have two twitter accounts, one for site news, and one as my personal account.  So alongside @smartjonescomic I now have @anominal for everyone to follow.  (Technically I created that first... but whatever.)
